Son of Hugh and Isabella Dalziel of Shawell, Northumberland (1945). In 1939 Father was a dairy farmer at Triermain (near Gilsland), Cumbria.
Mum Isabella Routledge from Stapleton, dad Hugh born in Dumfriesshire. Dad Hugh working on farm in Brampton 1911 & 1921.
They married in 1922 at Brampton.
Brother George Hugh born 1924, sister Sybella born 1926 (all the siblings were born in Haltwhistle). Sybella was married in 1948 to Maurice Wood.
