Son of James Gordon Bell and Ellen Bell; husband of Bettie Daisy Bell of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Gordon was the son of James Gordon Bell and his wife Ellen neé Robertson. The couple had married at Morpeth. The Bell family originated at Alnwick, Northumberland, James’s grandfather had been a fishmonger, his father a manager of a ships’ chandlery. James was a clerk firstly working for Northumberland County Council and sometime between 1912 and 1923 the family moved to Carlisle.

Other: In the autumn of 1943 Gordon married Bettie Daisy Burchett, unfortunately he died less than a year later. Gordon’s address in 1944 was 30, Petteril Street, Carlisle. Bettie remarried in 1947, and in the following year she gave birth to her elder son whom she named Gordon.
