Address: 3, Marlborough Gardens, Stanwix. Father James was a Medical Officer, he qualified in Edinburgh in 1912. James was born in 1884 and Jessie in 1890. The couple were married in 1919 in Inverness. James was from Lanark, Glasgow, and Jessie was from Ayr.<\/p>\n<p>The boys were born at the Bridge of Earn, Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Elder brother William Melville, who was also a pilot in RAF. was taken prisoner in France near St Omer in July 1941. He was injured having been hit by fire from an ME109. He spent 2 months in hospital where he and a kidney removed and he said he received excellent care. Later he spent time as a POW in various Stalags inside Germany; he was freed on 16th April 1945. Received his wings, Aug.1943 \u2013 leading cadet in all British Schools in America.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was in a Lysander Mark IIIA of 161 Squadron, carrying passengers, out of Le Bourget to Tempsford. The aircraft was lost without trace, probably in the Channel due to bad weather.
