British forces had initially garrisoned Crete in October 1940. There were 15 000 Britons, 8 000 New Zealanders, 7 000 Australians and 10 000 Greeks. The Battle took place over 13 days and was a victory for\u00a0 German forces who officially took control on 1st June.
