William Herbert Campbell and Elizabeth Campbell, nee Clark, of Acomb, York. They were married in 1911. Father was a Primitive Methodist Minister. He ministered in Shipley, Scotland, and Sunderland before moving to Carlisle in 1928. He began his degree in 1935, passing exams First B.Sc. Eng.Nav.Arch. Pure maths\/Appd\/maths. ET 1937, Second B.Sc. civ.Eng.E.T.1938, Final B.Sc Civil Eng.
