He was born in Carlisle.<\/p>\n<p>His father, and Francis\u2019s four older siblings Margaret, Alice, Robert, and William were all born in Suffolk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Francis\u2019s mother came from Montserrat, West Indies. Her father Robert born in Glasgow died in Montserrat. In 1881 and 1891 Eliza\u2019s mother Sarah Hyde was living at The Friends Retreat Lunatic Asylum, Walmgate, York and listed as a lady\u2019s companion and an officer and a widow.[\/toggle]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[toggle title=&#8221;Academic Record&#8221;]<strong>Academic Record:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Carlisle Grammar School: 1903 -07[\/toggle]<\/p>\n<p>[toggle title=&#8221;War Service&#8221;]<strong>War Service<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When Francis enlisted in Liverpool. In September 1917 the Regiment was largely in billets undergoing some training. There was even a divisional horse show on September 6. On September 15 the battalion moved from Zutkerque to Vlamertinghe.\u00a0The camp was shelled a little on September 17 and one man (Francis?) died of wounds.
