parents were both born in the East Indies: this was clearly a background of Colonial Service and Empire. Huntley was born in Edinburgh, but in the 1891 Census the family was living at Portland Square, Carlisle. He had a younger sister, Helen Marianne and a brother, Alastair Bruce, who was a Captain in the Great War and died in Livingstone, Rhodesia (Zambia) \u00a0in 1918. No 6347 14th<\/sup>\u00a0Battalion (The London Scottish) The London Regiment. He\u00a0joined up in January 1916, having returned from Ceylon.
