The Mathematics department at Trinity School is staffed by a dedicated team of thirteen strong mathematicians and able practitioners, and prides itself on the way it works together. The team meets regularly to discuss curriculum developments, and all members are willing to try, develop and create innovative ideas to push the department forward. Staff make excellent use of the CPD on offer via support networks including the AMSP and Mathshub and are at the forefront in terms of research informed teaching practice.On entry in Year 7, students are set into streamed groups and have four teaching hours per week. During Years 7, 8 and 9, students follow the White Rose scheme of learning – a curriculum set up to promote the mastery of mathematical skills, prior to starting the GCSE in Year 10. Presently, students study the AQA GCSE with entry in the summer of Year 11.
A Level Mathematics is taught to the EDEXCEL specification, attracting around 35-40 students each year, making it one of the most popular A level subjects.

A PERMANENT POST REQUIRED FOR SEPTEMBER 2024The Post
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and creative leader to the post of Curriculum Leader for English. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop the work of our English department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achieving excellent results along with the ability to motivate and inspire teachers and students alike.The English Department
The English Department is a large, friendly and supportive department made up of 16 members of staff; eight part time and eight full time.Key Stage 3 – We seek to deliver an interleaved, text-rich curriculum at Key Stage 3; providing opportunities to regularly revisit and embed key threshold skills. Each year group completes three learning cycles across the academic year, each one based on a text type. During each learning cycle the study of the focus literature text is interleaved with the teaching of creative writing and analysis of non-fiction. Throughout each cycle students complete regular mini-assessments, echoing the style of both paper one and two of the AQA English Language qualification. Years 7 and 8 are taught in mixed ability tutor groups; Year 9 remain in mixed ability groups but these are determined by departmental data, which is tracked across all year groups. All Key Stage 3 classes have four hours of English per week.
Key Stage 4 – Year 10 and Year 11 are taught in sets according to ability. Students are prepared for both English Language and English Literature GCSE of the AQA specification. All classes begin Year 10 with An Inspector Calls but there is some variety across classes for the other text choices. Throughout Year 11, intervention, masterclasses and after-school sessions are timetabled in order to supplement the teaching of KS4.
Key Stage 5 – At Trinity, we currently have around 50 students studying English courses in the Sixth Form. We offer AQA English Language, AQA English Literature (‘A’ syllabus) and Media Studies at A level, having recently moved to EDUQAS for the latter.
