TRINITY SIXTH FORM CENTRE

6thform building

The Carliol Building houses the Sixth Form Centre, which provides an ideal learning environment for young adults. It is a separate area and operates like a college within a school. With around 350 students, Trinity Sixth Form Centre is one of the largest school sixth forms in the country, attracting many students from other local schools and even further afield, and is a tribute to the excellent work being done by both students and staff.

Choice is guaranteed by the very wide range of courses available. We offer over 40 A-Level subjects, both academic and vocational, and a number of Level 2 and re-sit GCSE courses. We provide a great deal of support through our Pathways system to ensure that students are on courses which are appropriate to their abilities and ambitions. We have a very well-equipped library and information centre, a common room and an all-day refectory. Students also have access to Trinity Leisure Centre, with its pool and fitness suite.

Academic achievement is good at all levels and we have over 130 students going on to university each year, some to Oxford or Cambridge, some to read medicine or veterinary science amongst many other subjects, and other students gaining much sought-after places with local and national employers. Achievement in other spheres is also impressive. Extra-curricular involvement is a notable feature of the Sixth Form, and students take the lead in the school through sport, through the performing arts, in the classroom, on the student leadership team and through charity work and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Scheme. Many also gain valuable experience in the workplace, both here and abroad.

Our experience is that a vibrant Sixth Form benefits the whole school, by the involvement of Sixth Formers and through motivating younger students to achieve.
